Up until about a week ago I had no clue really anything about global warming. After researching causes and ways to slow down the global warming process I came to find that greenhouse gas emissions are probably the largest factor of how humans are speeding the process up. Greenhouse gas emissions are harmful gases trapping heat in the atmosphere. Althought there are some naturally occurring gases that will trap heat, most are derived from mankind and our usage of them should be ruduced.
Carbon dioxide that comes fom the burning of oil, coal, and natural gas travels through our uses of transportation and is one of the most harmful to our atmosphere. These fossil fuels contribute to the heating of the air which is causing global warming across the world, leading to polar ice caps melting and more severe weather conditions. I believe it is up to us to help prevent this from happening because in the long run we will be the ones who will suffer the consequences. Our poor actions will lead to even poorer results. The easiest solution would just be to find alternative ways of transporations, such as hybrid or electric vehicles. Taking those actions could help reduce the risk of global warming happening to us faster.

I agree that greenhouse gases are harmful, but I disagree that most are from mankind. One volcano erruption emits more gases than all the cars in the world emit in one full year. And how many errupt each year? 95 % of the greenhouse gases are natural. I'm not saying that we should not watch our environment and keep it clean, however it is not the cause of global warming.
ReplyDeleteStatistics do show that the rate of increase of CO2 concentration in the air skyrocketed after the industrial revolution, so it's probably due to mankind. But why should we be so quick to end the impact that mankind is having on the environment? Of course, there will be negative consequences, but there will also be positive ones, at least from an ecological standpoint. Of course, if you live near the shore, this would be a hard point of view to take unless you planned on moving.
ReplyDeleteGlobal warming.....climate change will take place as it has for millions of years. At different stages these changes will be more climatic, however the change needs to be in mankind and the way we respond to these changes. In my opinion a better life for us and the next generation will be in how we respond to the changing climate whether it be in preperation for harsh weather events or doing our part to reinstate natural resources.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the fact that we are causing Global Warming. Yet I Believe that who is doing the most harm to enviroment is the big power plants in industrial countries ;who function mainly on exporting all their goods to us . If we really want to stop ending Global Warming we should be confronting all the third world countries we get all are imports from. Now im not saying that driving hybird cars won't help the environment , I believe if everyone comes together and did conserve energy we could help save the enviroment. I'm just saying our main focus needs to be on who causes the most green house emmisons;which would be industrial nations letting green house emissions flow out of factories everyday.
